So I have a Children's Book...

This last semester, as a few of you know, I took a class about the creation and publication of a children's book. Now, we weren't asked to finish it, but I figured I would.

Children's books are generally around 32 pages, mine is a smaller version (12 pages), since I just wanted it as a finished product and possibly to show it off to publishers. I am pretty happy that I finished it, and my instructor mentioned that I was ready to start creating children's books (pretty exciting huh?)!

Anyway, the exciting part is that I digitally put it together myself, and it is ready to buy! I bought one and fixed any of the problems that I saw and I was really surprised with the quality! :)

Here is the link if anyone is interested: Click here :)

The art from the last week of school.

I never posted the last two or so assignments it seems! Well here they are for your enjoyment. :)

The Przewalski Horse aka, the wild Mongolian Horse. It was a fun one, by far the easiest for me to paint.

I'm back!

I was gone for a couple weeks due to family happenings (college graduations and family reunions). But I'm back and I desire to upload some more art and catch up. :)

Here is my Pig Buffalo creature..

I wasn't sure what I was thinking when I made this. I didn't use any references, just the knowledge I had from my past classes. It was done in the car while on my 2,400 mile road trip across a couple states, so don't ask! XD

This turned out completely different from how it started. I used masking fluid and then painted over it with watercolor, I then finished it in photoshop.

Kinda pretty, kinda dreamy. I'm usually not so girly, but sometimes I need it.

George the Go-all-out Gecko

My gecko window washer (with a mustache, lol).

Even though he might occasionally lick the glass, satisfaction is guaranteed!

..And my painting. :)

Maned Wolf Painting

Done for class. I could spend 20 more hours on this, but it just needs to be done.

Yes, Maned Wolves have very gangly looking bodies and they are very hairy.
Interesting fact: the Maned wolf isn't actually a wolf and it isn't closely related to any dog species.

Looking on in Arrogance

"The old bullfrog was king of the entire empire. He sat upon a toadstool throne commanding his subjects, several toads and a few lizards. One lizard lord approached with a scroll, which he began to read, as the king looked on in arrogance."

A very busy week, as always, I would have done more, but for the time we had, I am pretty pleased.

EDIT: I fixed what my teacher had critiqued. He also said that this could go into my portfolio, I'm so happy! In my 4 years at college, that has never been said to me before! I might clean it up some more, but yay!

came out way better than my first in my opinion!

I really like this. It took a long time to put together, but I'm happy I did it!

Eric Carle style Collage Owl

This was reated for my Children's book class. We had to create a collage like Eric Carle (the creator of The Very Hungry Caterpillar) does for his books. It was fun! I'm going to do something more fantasy and brightly colored on the next one.

Used: tracing paper, colored pencil, markers, acrylic paint, scissors, and glue.

Seahorse Othographic Worksheet

I am taking a Wildlife Ill. class, we must research and illustrate a new creature each week. This week I chose to do a Potbelly Seahorse. :)

 How fun! :)

Some of my Inspirations

As of right now, these are some of of the artists that I highly look up to. The list could probably be around 100 people, but I'm really starting to focus on animal anatomy, story telling, and traditional media, and these three guys have/ had this down pat!

I would really love to see who my friends and inspirations are inspired by, that's often how you find some new and really amazing artists!

Cute Little Spring Birds

A good night post, feeling a bit sad, I drew something that would cheer me up! I've been looking at children's books to get ready for my upcoming class, I couldn't help it!

Children's Book Art?

The prospects of becoming a Children's book Artist are better than ever!

The more people I speak with, the more opportunities I find for me to expand my horizons with options such as self publishing, or just creating books in general. With the help of my friends that have these wonderful talents of writing and creating stories, I feel that whomever I pair up with, it will be a great venture.

I've always been the artist that sketches a lot, that sketches random things. I don't have a character to draw and I have little to no ideas of my own. I'm proud to say that I have been creating small characters here and there (example above) for myself and to show that I have the capability to do it.
